Abels Field ~Review & Giveaway~

First let me say that I was so happy to get to watch Abel's Field.  My schedule has just been so overwhelming and then I shattered a tooth.  I went to the Dentist and there was no saving the tooth so I had to have it extracted and in the process the dentist broke my jaw bone.  after all of that then I found out that I had an abscess where that tooth had been pulled and I have been in agonizing pain for over a week.  With that being said now you know why it has taken me a few more days to get this post up and I just wanted to apologize to all my readers for this delay.

About Abel's Field

Left motherless by tragedy and abandoned by his father, high school senior Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis) faces enormous pressure as he strives to support his little sisters. At school, he endures the daily bullying of the football team. But fighting back only finds him singled out for punishment and assigned to an after-school work detail under the supervision of the reserved groundskeeper, Abel (SOUL SURFER’S Kevin Sorbo). Much to his surprise, Seth discovers that Abel may be the only one who truly understands his struggles. As dark times lure Seth toward desperate measures, the reluctant Abel may be the one person who can point him back toward the light.

My Thoughts

    As I watched this film/movie I kept thinking about my son and the struggles that he goes through each and every day.  Spencer will be 15 in July and he was diagnosed ADHD and Bi-polar at a very young age.  He struggles in school with his work, he has a really hard time finding friends, and even getting along with his sisters.  I notice that Spencer tends to find friends in all the wrong places and does things he knows he is not suppose to do, but will do them just gain a friendship.

     While Abel's Field is more about a young boy that has to take responsibilities for his sisters, I see some of the same torments that our children suffer today such as the bullying.  This movie is really a great Family movie and I totally recommend it to all families.  There are a few places in there that could have used a different language choice but it was over all a great movie.

About the movie:

     Rebelling against his parents and the broken home he comes from, fifteen-year-old Matthew Stevenson makes a destructive choice get attention: he vandalizes the church his father is renovating.  To avoid criminal charges, he agrees to repair the damage he caused to the intricate carvings and finds himself working alongside Ernest Otto (John Ratzenburger), a talented but reclusive woodworker.  Laboring together, an unlikely friendship forms and both come  to realize that all things are possible with faith, family, and friendship.

My thoughts:

     This is a great family movie, it teaches us alot of life lessons.  The one thing I took from this movie is that God does not work on our time but he works on his time.  How many times have we prayed for something and it just seems he isn't listening to us?  Maybe it is that we don't need what we are asking for, or maybe he is in fact working on something better for us!  I am a firm believer that things happen in our lives for a reason and sometimes we don't really know or understand until it is done why he didn't answer our prayers.  I have to say that this is one of the best movies I have seen in a while and it is one that I could enjoy with my children.  It is definitely a must see movie for the entire family!  I enjoy a horror film but I can't watch those with my children.  It is a must see movie.
