Easter Giveaway

When we grow up to be adults we forget some of the small things in life that really matter.  What do you remember about your birthdays?  I remeber the Family getting together and Momma doing everything she could to make it a special day.  My birthday is exactly one week prior to my baby sisters birthday so the only birthday I had that was just mine was my first birthday and even then my mother was carrying her then so I have never really had a birthday to myself.  Gerrie was born one week after my first birthday, but my Mother still got us seperate cakes on occassions and I remember some of them.
One year I believe for my 13 birthday my Mother got us a cake together and it was a Phone.  One side said "Jennie it is for you", and the other side siad " Gerrie it is for you".  We didn't have alot of money growing up so we didn't have the finest, but we always had family and alot of fun.

Memorable Coca-Cola Family Moment

I remember having Family dinners and get together as a child, and Granny Grandma would always come and eat with us.  She would share some stories about her when she was little and up to the age of 82 would get outside and play with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Granny like everyone else had a picky side to her, and not too often.  Generally she ate pretty much everything but when it came to something to drink she had 3 choices.  For breakfast she would have a cup of black coffee, and for lunch, supper, and in between she would have a cold glass of water or Coke.  Later on in her later years it became Diet Coke but still nothing else would do.

If we had like a birthday party, or any kind of family social Granny Grandma would bring her own drink to be sure that she had what SHE wanted and not have to worry if it was there or not.  It was always funny and she was easy to get under her skin, so we as children would tease her about.  As I have grown up I now understand fully what she meant by taking her drinks with her.  At any given time I have a Coke in my car just in case I go somewhere and they don't have Coke.  Granny always knew what she wanted and there was no changing her mind.  If she said she wanted Coke then you got her a Coke.  Now everytime I think of Coke I think of her and visa versa.  I belive she is what made Coke for me and my family many years ago.

I also remeber as a child when we would be sick or just our little tummies not feeling well my Mother would always go get us a cold Coca-Cola.  I don't really know what was in it but it was like a medicine for us, because we would always feel better.  It seemed to settle your stomache, and taste great at the same time.  Best medicine my mother ever gave me, I promise. To this day when I get sick or one of my children the first thing I do is make sure they have a nice cold glass of Coke to make them feel better.

coca-Cola is a drink in the South that is like a fine wine, it goes great with everything from fish to a Filet mignon and from a Tomatoe sandwich to spagettii.  We not only enjoy the cool refreshing taste at our dinner table with Family but when we entertain it is the star of the party.  I have a big metal wash bucket and we load it down with Coke's and ice.  Now you are not limited by the original Coke you can can Coke with cherry and Coke with Vanilla.  There are many varieties availible to us but I am gonna have to stick the best, the original.  Never have been real big on too much change but alot of my friends like the diffrent varieties.

About Coca-Cola®Created in Atlanta, Georgia, by Dr. John S. Pemberton, Coca-Cola was first offered as a fountain beverage by mixing Coca-Cola syrup with carbonated water. Coca-Cola was introduced in 1886, patented in 1887, registered as a trademark in 1893 and by 1895 it was being sold in every state and territory in the United States. In 1899, The Coca-Cola Company began franchised bottling operations in the United States.

Radio Flyer Bicycle

As a child we can all remember our first bicycle, or maybe we can't.  I don't know that I remember my first bike but I have vivid memory of a bicycle I got one year for Christmas.  I was probably about 11 years old and I woke up to a brand new bicycle for Santa Clause.  My parents would not allow me to go ride it outside because it was about 2:30 AM.  I was so excited about my new bike I rode it back and forth in the house until everyone else got up that morning.  Once my parents got up, and allowed me to take my new bike out I rode all day long.

I have this bike here that my Aunt gave to my little girl.  She is 2 years old and when we received it, it was all rusted up, and pedals were missing.  My husband took it back to the shop and spent about 5 days working on cleaning it up and repainting it.  As you can see it is a Radio Flyer bicycle with training wheels.  I do not know the year of it but would love to.  I have researched every where online and can't find this particular bike anywhere!  I know the history of the bike it belonged to my Uncle's first son Graham whom would be at least in his 40's now.  Unfortunately Graham passed away at a very young age and my Uncle had this under a shelter for all these years.  This bike has alot of sentimental value to me because 1 it was passed down in my family and 2 I never Knew Graham.
If you know about what year this bike is please leave a comment below, I would love to get more info on it.

UPDATE
I was able to get in contact with the Radio Flyer Customer Service and they have provided me with this info, it is really now just for your enjoyment  and info.

http://www.radioflyer.com/

We found out this is a MB 52 Mini Bike originally made in 1936 - 1940 and once again made in 1988.  If you have antique RF you can contact the Customer Service department and they are great.  The service I received was over the top, and beyond what they had to do.  The rep. I spoke with was very friendly and answered more questions than what i had, she also emailed me spec sheets that she had.

Summer Fun

If everyone is like me they are ready to see more Spring flowers, the pollen gone, feel the sand under their feet, and the warm sun on their face.  It is April and the old saying is April Showers bring May flowers...  I am ready.

I enjoy going camping, fishing, riding dirt bikes, and just spending quality time outdoors with my Family.  It is very difficult to do many of these things while the kids are in school because they don't get home until 3:30 and 4;15 PM.  By the time they get home it is almost time to get them feed, showered and in the bed.  Oh, let's not forget homework, that is something my kids wish I would forget all the time.
In the summer once the kids are out of school I enjoy going to our property and camping.  It just takes so much for us to get there (and we only live 20 minutes away), that I am exhausted by the time we get there.  I have even tried loading up everything I can possibly load up the day before like the tents, and sleeping bags.  It never fails I always forget to take something too. And it is usually something that I needed to cook with or just cant make it without.  Luckily my husbands parents live closer than we do so we run to their house and get it and there is a store about 10 mins. away in case we need more food.

We have about 100 acres  and we are surrounded completely by woods.  There is a clearing in the middle and we always set up tent just inside the inner edge of the woods.  The kids enjoy it because they can run all day I believe and never hit the same piece of property twice in one day.  We can take the dirt bikes, and four wheelers and they can ride, and then there is the little pond over in the corner that we go fishing.
Seems like once we get set up, and I am cooking supper we actually start to have a great time.
What are some of the things that you and your family enjoy doing in the summer together?
