Identity in Christ Press Release

PRESS RELEASE:
“IDENTITY”
Premieres on Television Aug. 1
Groundbreaking new show features popular Christian leaders exploring believers’ identity in Christ, sponsored by upcoming theatrical release THE IDENTICAL

Nashville, TN (July 22, 2014) – City of Peace, the company behind the upcoming Ray Liotta-Ashley Judd film THE IDENTICAL, is launching a groundbreaking new series of television specials this August focused on helping viewers discover and live out their identity in Christ.

A co-production of Gray Media, in:ciite Media and City of Peace Films, THE IDENTITY SERIES will air Aug. 1-Sept. 5 on some of the most popular secular and Christian television networks in the country, including . ABC Family, CMT, Lifetime, Discovery Channel, TBN, Daystar, The Word Network, INSP and TCT.

Each half-hour episode will feature a prominent Christian leader speaking before an audience about a key aspect of what it means to follow God’s call on your life. Among those appearing in the series are best-selling author and pastor Max Lucado; Lifechurch.tv founder Craig Groeschel; Australian pastor and activist Christine Caine; Bishop George Bloomer of the Bethel Family Worship Center in Durham, N.C.; and the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.

Also featured are Jamal Bryant, pastor of Empowerment Temple AME Church in Baltimore; Mike Breaux, pastor of Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas; Miles McPherson, pastor of The Rock Church in San Diego; author Lisa Harper; author Holly Wagner; Bil Cornelius, pastor of Bay Area Fellowship in Corpus Christi, Texas; Raleigh Washington, president of Promise Keepers; David Nasser, pastor of Christ City Church in Birmingham, Ala.; and best-selling author Lee Strobel.

"Once we understand our identity, it's natural for us to want to talk with others about what God has done in our life,” Strobel explained. “I call this 'the unexpected adventure,' because you never know what opportunity might come up to have a spiritual conversation that could change someone's life and eternity. I hope my segment encourages and equips people for these kind of interactions."

The television series was created to support the nationwide release of the film THE IDENTICAL, coming to theaters Sept. 5. Though the film is not overt in its Christian messaging, City of Peace hopes the content-focused series draws the audience into the themes presented in the film.

“THE IDENTICAL is not religious; it’s where people are living right now,” said Yochanan Marcellino, president and CEO of City of Peace Films. “It was always imagined to be a movie both for the masses and for Christians.”

Each episode of THE IDENTITY SERIES will feature content – much of it exclusive – from THE IDENTICAL. The film, about the son (newcomer Blake Rayne) of a preacher (played by Liotta) who feels a calling to pursue a music career, not follow in his father’s pastoral footsteps, touches on some of the very themes explored in THE IDENTITY SERIES.

“Our IDENTITY SERIES brings relevancy to the modern churchgoer,” Marcellino explained, “by elevating the movie's core truth, that Jesus Christ alone can answer the question we all ask ourselves: Who am I and what am I here for?"

One of the truly groundbreaking aspects of the series is that churches have the opportunity to gain access to streaming versions of all 13 episodes to broadcast during services. All they need to do is commit to purchasing group tickets for THE IDENTICAL. More information on group tickets for the film, and details about the series itself, including broadcast schedules, can be found at http://www.theidentityseries.com

Chris Thomason, president and CEO of in:ciite media, said the time is right for THE IDENTITY series in the church – and society at large.

“The subject of our ‘identity’ is widespread in culture from ‘identity theft to ‘social media and online profiles,’ he said. “We are all inundated with this theme of ‘who we are.’ As we created the concept for this series, it was obvious that some of the most well-known and respected Christian leaders and pastors are speaking directly to this relevant subject in our lives.

“We believe it is unprecedented to gather the caliber and breadth of leaders who are participating in this broadcast series in one place around this one theme,” Thomason added. “We at in:ciite are honored to be a part of this remarkable opportunity in association with THE IDENTICAL film to connect this content and speakers to an awesome film that will resonate with audiences of all types.”

In a book based on her post, Kate Conner calls us to action in Enough: 10 Things You Should Be Telling Teenage Girls. We all have teenage girls in our lives who we love, whether it’s a sister, friend, or daughter. Kate has identified 10 things these girls need to hear today from someone who loves her. Peppered with wit and laced with grace, Kate’s list tackles relevant issues like Facebook, emotions, drama, tanning beds, modesty, and flirtation. Woven into each chapter is a powerful message of worth that transcends age, and will touch the souls of women, young and old alike: You are beautiful. You are valuable. You are enough. A former youth-worker, wife to a college minister, and a young mom in her twenties, Conner stands squarely in generational gap, the perfect place from which to bridge it. Conner offers herself as a translator, helping you to speak your teenager’s language and equipping you with a fresh perspective from which to engage your teenage girl—one that may enable her to truly hear your heart (and your wisdom) for the first time since puberty.

My Thoughts:

I have to admit that this was a very serious, however it became a comedy at times.  The first chapter talks about how to talk to your teenage girls and the way they dress.  IT is not just important that we talk to them but it is more important that we know how to talk to them so that they don't dismiss what we are saying and think that we are just OLD!  This chapter explains that, it also talks about how we dress is our first impression with everyone and what I clothes say about us as a person.  Who we are, who we want to be now and when we grow older, and what we are looking for in life.

This is a book that I will keep handy not just to read but as a guide in helping me talk with my daughters.  I have 2, one is 10 and already starting to think she is suppose to dress like she walks the streets at night and the other is just 5.  So I plan to try this book out and use it for both of my girls and for my son that just turned 16.  Though it is targeted o how to talk to our teenage girls, we need to teach our boys that it is NOT OK to gawk at girls, whistle and make sex calls when they walk by, although it is natural and human nature for a boy or man to look at a girl/lady, he look without being rude.  I know as a lady I enjoy the fact that a man takes the time to look at me when I walk by, especially when I am looking my best.  It kind of gives me that boost that Yeah, my husband has a good catch, but I don't want nobody to stare me down and make me feel dirty when I walk by.

This book teaches us as Ladies, Young Adults, and Teenagers what we should be doing not just for us, but for God.  These are things that he would find appropriate.  I know I don't want to be known as the trailer trash or the girl who dresses like she is homeless, even though I don't have riches and money to buy the finest.  But I can still dress Modest and and have fun while doing so.  As this chapter talks about the Neon Purple Leggings, I think you can a spunky side, while still being covered and not showing the entire show.

I have ONLY given you a preview into Chapter one and trust me there is so much more in there.  If you would like to win a copy of this book and share with your teenage daughter, just follow the rafflecopter below and be entered to win your very own copy.  I can't promise much in life but I can promise that this is a helpful guide and funny read!

About The Book:
The Question Is Not IF Attempts Will Be Made to Limit Religious Freedoms, But When

The most popular evangelist of his day, John Luther, simply wants to share the Gospel and enjoy a quiet life with his family. He never asked to be at the center of a political controversy, but an ill wind has been blowing through the halls of Congress, and supporters of a new religious-equality bill see Luther's endorsement as critical. But when Luther refuses to lend his support, he unknowingly sets in motion an explosive plan bent on destroying his reputation and undermining everything for which he stands. His once-normal life is turned upside down as he becomes a fugitive left with only one dangerous option--putting everything he holds most dear at risk while he fights to expose the truth. It is a mission that brings him face-to-face with the coming storm of persecution that could threaten the very fabric of our nation's freedoms.

My Thoughts

This has been a very interesting book to read.  It makes you stop and think about what is going on in the word around us today.  I had many times when reading this book that I had to stop and ask myself, What would I do?  Would I stand up for what I believe in or would I just say whatever and let the world crumble before my feet?  So may times we see things happening and we don't say a word.  We just go on and think to ourselves that someone else will take care of it, or someone else will protest this.

I am reminded of the prayer in school, I have heard my very own pastor say that he did nothing about it because he believed that someone else would do something and that they would never take prayer out of school.  It was a big surprise to him when they did.  The sad thing is, how many people sat back and had the very same thought?  This book talks basically about that very thing.  Will you when the time comes, stand up for what you believe in or will you sit back and let someone else fight the battle for you?  Will you be PERSECUTED for your beliefs?  It is a hard thought to process and I don't really expect an answer to this question.  But I would love for you to stop and think about it.

Now I have a book to giveaway to one lucky reader! Just follow the Rafflecopter, and you are entered to win!  Good Luck to you all...
